Lake City Middle School Students Learn About Get Fit
11/24/2008
Over 300 middle school students from Lake City Middle School in Anderson County crowded the school gymnasium to learn about making healthy choices with the Get Fit Tennessee Team.
Commissioner of Health, Susan R. Cooper, M.S.N., R.N., along with the Get Fit Tennessee Team and several members of the Anderson County Health Department, visited the school on November 21, 2008 for a special presentation to show the students and faculty that getting fit can be fun and simple.
Commissioner Cooper presented Principal Paula Sellers and Anderson County Mayor, Rex Lynch, with Get Fit Tennessee hats and certificates, officially welcoming them and all the Lake City Middle School students and faculty to Team Tennessee.
Several students then took part in playing the Get Fit Tennessee Trivia Game, which helps teach students about making healthier choices, how often they need to exercise, and reminds them about wise meal choices and activities they can do at home to get fit.
Every student took center stage on the gym floor to close the Get Fit visit by joining together to dance the “Cha Cha Slide.”
