GetFitTN is a statewide awareness program developed by Governor Phil Bredesen to address the rising epidemic of Type 2 diabetes and risk factors that lead to diabetes, like obesity. This initiative is aimed at educating both adults and children that Type 2 diabetes can be delayed or even prevented with modest lifestyle changes like increasing physical activity and a healthier diet.

Nashville on the Move begins Friday March 5

on the Move!

Friday, March 5

11 a.m.-1 p.m.

What it is: A free lunchtime walking event for workers in the downtown Nashville area.

Who it’s for: Anyone who wants to get moving a little more during their work day. Form a walking team with your co-workers or come on your own and make some new walking friends.

Where to go: Visit NashvilleMoves.org to view a list of four downtown walking routes and then start walking on anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Water stations will be set up along each route. Walk all or just part of the route—all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate!

Who’s involved: Nashville on the Move is a grassroots effort spearheaded by local organizations including the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, Metro Public Health, Get Fit Tennessee, your employer and other local companies interested in the health and well-being of employees.
